and where do you get that info?
The iPhone 3Gs has an ARM type 7 CPU. It is the first iDevice to have one, with the iPod Touch 2G being the last type 6. Apple no longer includes the type 6 instruction set. Similar to how Snow Leopard no longer works on PPC Macs. The iPhone 3Gs was also the first iDevice to have the PowerVR SGX535 GPU. The iPod Touch 2G was the last to have the PowerVR MBX Lite 3D. The driver kext is no longer in the firmware and its doubtful that the 4.2.1 one would work.
Furthermore, Apple doesn't sign the soft SHSH for 4.3 and none of the jailbreaking tools out support it. So unless the OP wrote his own method for jailbreaking 4.3 and getting around the soft SHSH, he has just faked his firmware and build number.

holy smokes! I had no idea there were so many log files.
Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.
I think I must have been looking at a truncated format in the admin console... because this is much more detailed.
Now to backtrack the shutdown times (I haven't completely eliminated electrical issues).
Thanks!

Not meant to boast but that article is written by me, thus the referral to the MR thread :)
Great article Hellhammer, I have the slower TS128. It bothered me when I first came across your post about the difference in speed, the day I got my machine. being I had the slower one. But in reality this machine seems super fast as is. No regrets. If OWC ever works out the sleeping problem and lower the cost of the drives by half. I would upgrade:D
Thank you for keeping us well informed;)

not irrelevant to many others. a lot of people use it for trips through the country where they take pics of buildings, scenery. there are even enough professional uses like scouting out the locations for a new golf course, new hotels, camp sites, movie set locations and many more.
there are already other solutions for it though.
you just have to have the time between your GPS device and your camera in sync. there are programs that map the automatically the pics to the gps location via the time when they where taken. sony has a dedicated gps but in priciple it works with all of them.
seems that technology is then just integrated in iphoto. sounds neat.
What I'm thinking here is that the GPS is integrated into the camera. So when you take a pic, the GPS coordinates are recorded in the metadata so you know where it was taken.

Yep...and as an aside:
There is no good reason why you shouldn't be doing your TM backups hourly as is native to the program since you have a desktop. With a laptop I can see situations where you don't have a connection to the HDD occasionally.
Your frequency of "every few days" means that TM has to do a larger backup each and every time while the hourly backup will do tiny backups...only what has changed that hour...sometimes nothing if nothing has changed (overnight for example) sometimes a few GB if you rip a DVD perhaps. It runs in the background, so it doesn't impact you at all.
The one time you accidentally delete a file you started working on this morning (and is therefore is not in your 'every few days' backup) is the time when you will be so happy you went back to TM's default settings. :)

That is NOT how it works in Germany!!
If you got your iPhone 4 for 1 Euro you are paying 89,96 Euro MONTHLY, which equals about 130 US-Dollars ---->
See this link:
http://www.t-mobile.de/iphone/tarife/0,18383,22271-_,00.html
And after you got your iPhone 4 you can NOT unlock it for 99 Euros, T-Mobile Germany specifically excludes the iPhone 4 from this offer. All other T-Mobile Phones you can unlock, not the iPhone 4. --->
huh? i got my iphone 4 at tmobile and got it unlocked for 100 after explaining to them that i'll be uproad for some time and need to use a foreign sim. was no prob at all. u cant expect someone to use their sim in australia for example. ud be broke after usin the net for 5 mins ^^

I have an IBM thinkpad r40 that I purchased new two years ago and I had no idea that I needed to renew the warranty within the warranty period or you can't purchase another one ever from IBM. (This probably has to do with the whole Lenovo exchange stuff). Anyway, it has about 2 years worth of wear and tear and I'd basically be selling it for parts.
If you know how to fix computers then this computer will work just fine for you. There's been some stuff going on with the screen and it might be the video card and I'd rather just retire it. I don't have money to get a new laptop right now so I figure I'd just sell it for what I can get.
Everything functions fine except for the screen that has lines on it and I don't know wussup with that nor do I have the funds to find out. I have all of the backup cds and stuff and it comes with:
-the basic ultrabay ibm cd-rw/dvd-rom drive
-P4 processor
-like 1.2-1.4ghz processor speed (I can't check right now b/c the way the screen is acting)
-384mb of RAM
-Windows XP Home SP2
-original install and backup cds that came with the computer
-battery
-power adapter/charger
I really don't know what else to do with this laptop and it has some good parts in it if you didn't want to fix it up. You will need to add your own hard drive, but that's relatively inexpensive as well.
I paid about $1000 for this laptop, but since I don't know what the deal is and cant really afford to get it looked at I'm willing to sell for $300 shipped.

Other than a normal shutdown time of about 3 minutes it's been turning off well. I'll just relax and revive this thread if the problem arises more frequently.
If shutdowns normally take a long time, open Activity Monitor to see if you have an app that's hanging. It shouldn't take 3 minutes to shut down under normal circumstances. Also, try closing all apps before shutting down, to see how long it takes.

Not sure about that. I don't use these facilities much as 95% of my music is classical, which I really only need to list by album. I would assume the worst.

I love the idea of the MBAs but flash memory is just too expensive. I bought an 11.6" MBA and enjoyed using it, but the screen was maybe a touch too small (12" would be nicer IMO) and the 64GB hard drive space was unworkable. I had all these ideas about carrying around a mini portable HD with me and connecting it when I needed to, but I quickly realized what a pain that was. So I returned it and bought the new 13" MBP with a 500GB hard drive. Since then I've realized just how nice it is to have a FULL computer with me at all times - no compromises.
It would be great, however, if you were rich enough to buy an iMac to go along with it. Or if you were rich enough to upgrade to a 512GB SSD or something (what is that..like over $1000 extra? :p)

If you can find a copy, get Tales of Symphonia, arguably the best RPG ever made, well in my opinion. When I picked up my copy years back I heard it was made in limited quantities, no idea why.

I downloaded the trial of appzapper thinking that I'd actually try to keep my new macbook pro clean and get rid of the "hidden" files associated with other applications.
AppZapper, AppCleaner, CleanApp, TrashMe, and similar apps do not do a thorough job of removing all files/folders related to deleted apps. I tested several of these, using Skype as the app to be removed. Of 17 items to be removed:
AppZapper missed 13 items
AppCleaner missed 11 items
AppDelete missed 8 items
Hazel missed 9 items
I also tested AppTrap, CleanMyMac and a few others, but don't recall how many items they missed. All left files/folders behind. In most cases, they remove .plist files and a few others, but leave behind much larger files and folders. (you will find a discussion of these tests in the thread linked below)
One app that I would not recommend, based on the number of complaints that have been posted in this forum and elsewhere, is CleanMyMac. As an example: CleanMyMac cleaned too much (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=709930)
The only effective method for complete app removal is manual deletion:
Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)
Now, when I try to open pdfs in Safari (to just view in the browser, and not download them), a dialog box opens asking me where adobe reader is because safari can't read the pdf. I can only download the pdf.

I wonder if we will hit that point first or if cloning technology will make the point moot by growing fully functioning attachable limbs first.

Hey Guys,
I have a Power Mac G5 that the logic board is dead in. It is a 1.8 ghz Dual Processor. My question is if I'm going to replace it do I need to put the same "matching" one back in. Or can I put any dual processor back in. Does the board change from the 1.8 to the 2.5ghz? I know some of them have the liquid cooled heat sinks. Plus my understanding is the processor is what determines the ghz not the board. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. B
Oh maybe you might want the logic board number to understand what I have a little bit better. (I just feel that a G5 case is a G5 case and it should accept any board i put in?!)
KD4065Q9QEJE 630 4914 630T4918
Why not just get a dual core G5 or even the last model G5, the G5 Quad? By the time you get the logic board and possibly new processors, you would have exceeded even a G5 dual core or Quad.

I disagree with you on that. Kanye isn't trying to imitate the greats that came before him. He has a completely different style that is unlike anyone I can think of. IMO, he is one of the most original rappers out there.
I hear you, I didn't mean pale imitation as in "to imitate", I just think he is like hip-hop "Lite" or the "Light Edition" version. IMO he lacks real content and depth, contentwise he can't touch the greats who have come before him. He is just too crossover Top 40 for my taste, if it wasn't for all the guest appearances by other artists on his albums, I don't think they would be half as good as they are...Just my opinion...
