Changed my desktop again to a picture I took of the 2011 Chevy Volt at an auto show I went to today.

Adobe CS5 Photoshop Classroom in a Book should show you the basics
shows more than the basics! I got this book for Christmas and it is fantastic. Very easy to follow and if you want to learn specific features it is easy to jump around from section to section.

I would take my iPod and Mac to the Apple store, but my warranty is out. It's been out for a long time too. And yes, I am using the Last.fm Scrobbler.

Was just about to post about the exact same issue as its annoying the heck out of me given that two of my favorite forums are sub-forums. +1 for aesthetics appeal
Just two! I think I spend most of my time in various subforums! :p

sometimes apple is really good at advertising the same things the previous product already had but they make it sound like its a new feature..
What they advertise is "Now a richer Multi-Touch experience comes to the Mac", and that's indeed true as there are a lot of new gestures.

iWork updates are always welcome in my book, but I'm not sure "Lasso" will ever be as successful as Pages or Keynote. With programs like Pages or Keynote, you don't need guaranteed interoperability, but with Excel it's different. With Excel, you are less likely to distribute it in printed form or orally in a presentation, rather you would distribute it electronically. Plus, when it comes to numbers, there is no room for error.
Excel truly is the standard in this case (actually doing a good job), and it will be very hard to convince users to switch.
.
You should note however that the Excel format is very simple to save/load and there really isn't much room for error in loading/saving Excel formatted documents. This is not the case with Word and PowerPoint, hence the sometimes inaccurate conversions.

The phone companies in the US are price fixing. It is plain as day. The small group of companies are setting prices and agreeing to make it difficult to unlock your phone.
The same situation with phone companies in France was exposed. It is clearly happening here. If we only had real investigative journalism in the US, we might expose it here too.
If there was real competition, this ridiculous text fee above phone and data for example would go away.

I am interested in purchasing the iWork suite, in particular for Pages, however I have a query and would be very grateful if anybody could provide assistance. I know Pages supports the import and export of Word documents but am curious as to how well implemented this function is? Exporting accurate, error free word documents which may be viewed in perfect working order by users of Office for Mac and Windows would be a necessity and I'd like to know how well Pages does this job?
Thank you for your time.
I've recently done a short paper with embedded pics (~8 pages) in Pages and then exported it to word, as that's what the agency wanted and of course I couldn't embed the pics worth a damn in Word. Anyways the converted file appeared okay in Word (using Office X), though the text didn't line up exactly the same as in the Pages document. Didn't work on it after that though, but my gut reaction is it works okay but you don't get an exact word copy as the Pages file, only close, but close is a hundred times better than trying to get Word to behave while doing picture formating and embedding.

what is the speed of your macbook? I would venture that it is 2.16 or a 2.4 GHz but want to make sure I have at least the same model speed in stock. Do you want me to ship you a part or receive your computer, complete the repair and send it back to you?

Not surprised.... Disappointed in the lack of competition for Apple.
From what I've heard the Zune had some nice features. I think one major downfall about Zune is that you have to buy Microsoft points (that's my experience with my Xbox). That is a major pain and inconvenient. It's not simple for the user. I hated spending more money for something then I had to.

Technically AM3 CPUs will work in AM2+ boards. Problem is that DDR2 is a dead end at this point. DDR3 is so cheap nowadays I see no reason in not buying it and enabling yourself to use newer CPUs and chipsets.
As far retail stores - vast majority of people working at those stores don't have a clue. Also, not to sound sexist but why would you ask women to begin with? Yes, I've seen women that know about this stuff but they are rare and far between. Of course not to say that I can't imagine hearing such nonsense from a male employee.

I have set up the MacBook of my girl friend to get remote access to my home network by a VPN connection. I did this mainly to make it possible for her to copy files from my MacPro. The VPN connection works very well but she cannot "see" my MacPro in the Finder. When she comes visiting me and logs into my network by WLAN she can see the MacPro and download files.
What is my mistake? I assumed that the MacPro treats an incoming VPN connection like another Mac which is on the network. Apparently this is wrong. What can I do to make it work as I want it to work?

apple.com.au still doesn't have iTunes 7 on their website:(
still can't buy tv shows:mad:
No mention of movie purchases in our store:confused:
Just another poor cousin release by the looks of it.
We're glad that you guys can have more fun than us.
You could use the cheering up what with george dubbya and all
Greetings from Australia
Thanks - it's too true. With our current W misery it's nice to have movies and TV to numb the pain.
I "authorized" my library to this machine and was reminded I have authorized "3 out of 5" - wasn't it previously 7 machines that could be "authorized"? maybe my imagination.
I really like iTunes7 - flipping through all my (new) CD art is a nice way to pick an album to listen to.

A hacker who is trying to make money of his hacks is a bad hacker, I think.
He's not inovating he's just trying to make money on some one elses inovations.
It was cool to brake the cd protection and making the hack free, this ain't cool.

Go with 32bit, as you say, since you only have 2GB, 64 bit would be a waste as it can take advantage of 4GB and more, it can use less however, but I think it would be better for you to go with 32bit. Are you doing it in a virtual machine?

OK then, a little advice.
What would be a good looking way to get an ad out to clients....
Just something quick. I don't want anything fancy or interactive, just something I can fire off in an email....

the Zunes weren't actually that bad. The UI and snappiness of the device is actually attractive. It has a better touchscreen response than an Android device, to be honest.

I have about 20 TB of photos. The biggest advice I can give you that others have stated is from the beginning organize your photos in a very logical manner and edit the meta-data to reflect what they are. This is very very important for when you get very large collections of photos.
Also unless you have a mac pro tower where you can put hard drives inside your best bet is an external for your pics.
