Dear all:
May I ask what I should do in the following situation?
I hold F1 visa and my new job starts on Sept 1. The int'l student office of my current university mistakenly set my OPT start date on May 6. My OPT has been approved and EAD card arrived.
That is, I will have 120-plus "unemployment" days accumulated by early August, which will then violate the "90-day unemployment rule" of OPT.
I am under tremendous pressure and really want to hear your opinions.

The answer depends on how far you have got in the permanent residence process. If the I-140 is approved and the 485 has been pending for 180 days, you can change employers if the new position is in the "same or similar occupational classification" as the one on the labor cert/I-140.

I wonder how will the June\July bulletin change the job market - for technocrats...
Starting from Dec 1st many people will be eligible to switch jobs...people who were unable to do so till now.
And in Jan- many more will get into the "green" zone...
So here is the poll question:
Are you planning to change jobs ?:)
A: As soon as possible- Cant wait !!!
B:Yes- but not immediately - as soon as I find something good
C:Not Really- I am content where I am.

Bill Clinton was in Cisco Campus last week in connection with some strategic meeting for Cisco, which they have it yearly at Monterey, CA. Clinton has made it clear to its employees, they come first in line in respect to immigration/Green Cards. Rest follow. So it may be a good idea if followed up with Bill. He supports Tech Industry. As pappu stated in the first post of the above referenced thread - some of the ongoing efforts include finding how many IV members would get benefit from such a provision and get basic details such as username/Priority Date of impacted members. Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

I applied for I140 on January and receipt date is Jan 12 2007, I upgraded to PP during last days of June, and the receipt date for it was July 2nd and today i was checking the status, the status is showing a receipt date of July 5th, i called customer service center they say that receipt date is July 5th and this is not a premium case. I understand that they have temporarily suspended PP for 140, but even though my request for upgrade to PP was rejected, the receipt date should be still Jan 12 2007 or will they change it to latest date when request for PP upgrade was denied, anyone facing this issue?

Do you know how long it takes for the SWA order to be posted after a job order has been requested with the SWA?
Is it immediate or does it take some time for the SWA to process the job order and then post it?

Just realized that some thing is wrong with the USCIS web site. When I open my portfolio , I see an LUD on my EAD with 10/16/2007. (Today is 10/9/07)
My AP LUD date changed to 4/16/2007 (Not even applied in April 07).
Could this be DST bug ?

Since you were working all these times, please carry the W2 for 2008 ( for both of you). They may/may not ask for this, but its safe to carry the document
I am currently on H1 but planning to go on H4 due to current economic scenario.
I am planning to go to India due to some family reason and planning to get COS from H1 to H4 in India.
I have my salary slips and my husband has also maintained his status throughout.
Has anyone heard any horror stories about H4 stamping cases getting denied.
What documents they ask for when you go for COS from H1 to H4. Besides salary slips can they ask for my W-2's or they need my husband's W-2's only

How about this ? Lets say your consulting firm is ready to file your I-485 upon lots of restriction such as two year agreement and to spend around 10 gran.
While the big firm who has filed the PERM and waiting for the approval. In this case, can we do both the cases to see which is better upon the current situation.
This will help few of our folks and your thoughts are always appreciated.

Now I have lost I20 for that X University.
I am filing for H1B now and I am supposed to submit all prior I20s.
What would be the potential problem if I do not submit the I20 of X univ?
